Judaism

Shikse - "A Gentile girl or woman, especially one who has attracted a Jewish man. The term derives from the Hebrew word "sheketz", meaning the flesh of an animal deemed taboo by the Torah. Since a Jewish man marrying a non-Jewish woman is taboo also, this word applies to her."

or, me. It may or may not be due to the school that I currently attend, but I apparently exude some sort of shikse appeal.

Speaking of Judaism, my friends and I have come up with a pretty accurate theory regarding the Jewish man and his penis --> forget the hand or the foot, the nose is what most accurately correlates with the size of the Jewish man's penis.

Trust us on this one girls, and boys.

Scientology is for Crazies

Global Warming is a highly debated thing...and I truly believe that the last thing it needs is for John Travolta to be its spokesperson. There is so much crazy in this article I don't even know where to start.

Oh yeah, how about "Travolta, a Scientologist, claimed the solution to global warming could be found in outer space and blamed his hefty flying mileage on the nature of the movie business. " and "It [global warming] is a very valid issue," Travolta declared. "I'm wondering if we need to think about other planets and dome cities. Everyone can do their bit. But I don't know if it's not too late already. We have to think about alternative methods of fuel. "

The solution to global warming is ... dome cities and other planets...and not just avoiding using your 5 private planes that resulted in 800 tons of carbon emissions in a year, more than 100 times that of the average person.

Angst

Lately, my anger at the world and most of its inhabitants have been noted by a number of different people. I am not in the position to deny any of it, nor will I be changing my behavior, which brings me to my next rant about this kid that I am forced to deal with for a group project this semester.

He automatically assumes the leadership role, which is totally fine except for the fact that he tries to steer the group in certain directions when everyone else wants to move differently. This then results in a 30min unnecessary conversation about his thought process and why it is better and then arguing over the semantics of everyone's arguments. It is completely unnecessary and a total waste of time. It is one thing to be a leader and take initiative in moving the project along, but it is another thing when you are trying to take control when no one else wants you to take control.

Another thing that really bothers me is how he speaks. He speaks quickly and stutters often. He has a lisp and a foreign accent. None of these facts make him a good speaker, and yet he chooses to vocalize his often unneeded opinions much too often. He also says "correct" instead of "yes," and it just really bothers me.

Maybe I don't have a reason to openly hate on him, but he just really brought my day down. It was a 2:30PM meeting and I was still completely hungover and wanting to die, so you can see how voluntarily spending an hour in the presence of this individual was helping that cause.

RIP Isabelly, 2005-2007

The iPod has officially died...crossed out eyes on iPod face and all...harddrive failure...

I'm going to let it chill out for a while and see if it will be recognized by my laptop again...if that doesn't work I will have to eBay that iPod and put that money towards a new one. -sigh- at least I will have an 80gig iPod at some point.

Hot Man of The Day

If you haven't seen the ads for the Showtime series The Tudors, you should get a hold of any publication in the recent weeks...because it has a giant photo of Jonathan Rhys Meyers (for the ladies) and 3 women with obscenely large cleavages (for the menz)...but we're not talking about that right now.

The HMOTD is Henry Cavill of The Tudors. He plays Charles, Henry's Biff, and is extremely gorgeous. He was in The Count of Monte Cristo and Tristan and Isolde...I haven't seen either of those movies, but I'm pretty motivated to rent both of them.

However, the facts that he's from New Jersey and went to private school don't bode well for his personality...mostly because I see too many of those types around my campus, and even though some of them are very pleasing to the eye, I would rather slit my wrists while sitting in a bathtub full of my blood and make music with the sound of my tears than actually having to endure those imbiciles*.

*disclaimer: I don't hate all people from New Jersey who went to private school, just the majority of them.

The Tudors air 10PM every Sunday on Showtime starting April 1st - for now, you can watch episode 1+2 of the series online at www.sho.com

Ugly Clothes - Real Life Edition

It was a nice and balmy 52 degrees this morning, with dense fog and a gentle breeze. It had thunderstormed last night, so it was a bit muddy out too.

Just because it is above freezing does not mean that your fat ass needs to be let out for air in your leggings. Leggings are NOT PANTS. Leggings go UNDER SOMETHING and DO NOT stand alone, especially when you have over 2% body fat, which is all of the population who are willing such tights without coverage.

I do not need to see your camel toe on my way to class. NO ONE should be subject to that. I do not need to see your fat ass hanging out past your jacket when I get out of class, because if it is cold enough for you to don a jacket, it is cold enough to be wearing PANTS, as in REAL PANTS, pants with POCKETS, ZIPPERS, BUTTONS. And, as bored as I am during class, I do not need to be consumed with counting the number of rolls that are visible on your thigh..because believe me, they are visible.

You are NOT cute, you just look like you have an abnormally large and yet pancake shaped ass.

In other news, I saw a girl walking around with a short jean skirt and a pair of hideous boots. When you are pale and white, you should not be wearing a pair of knee-high motorcycle boots with color the shade of toenail fungus, because it just looks like the fungus spread to and have consumed your calves.

Ugly Clothes episode 2

Hilary Duff is a very pretty young lady. She went from chipmunk-cheeked tween on that Lizzie McGuire show to a thin, Joel Madden-dating, (at least she's not LiBlohan partying) semi-adult 19 year old.

I love her makeup, covet her shoes/jewelry/clutch. HOWEVER, there are many things wrong with this picture:

1. She looks like she has armpit fat.
2. Her armpit fat looks like they have cancerous bulbs that semi-resemble chicken cutlets that semi-resemble breasts.
3. The top of the dress looks like the left half of Colonel Sanders' mustache.
4. The bottom of the dress hits her at an unflattering height, making her legs look stumpy.

I just have a huge dislike for dresses that end at mid-calf. I have muscular legs, so it always cuts off at the larger part of my calf, making me look shorter than I actually am, and making my legs look fatter than they really are. As a petite female, I gave up wearing long skirts a long time ago, I swear by short skirts, short dresses, and high heels.

Dignity

The Boy and I have had so much history, and yet it's our history that's ultimately bringing us down. We've been fighting to stay together, to make it work. In this latest episode, it feels as if I'm fighting to stay together because I'm too afraid of that feeling - the feeling of your heart literally breaking, the ache of your heart at the thought of throwing everything you planned away.

When we did break up for most of the last (calendar) year, I went through a dramatic period of tears, Elliott Smith, candles, and alcohol. Those band-aids for my booboo's only served to superficially cover up the deep hole in my heart that I didn't think would be filled up again.

Come the summer, and I really thought I was over it - I knew he was dating someone, and I was even happy for the fact that he had found someone. We were both moving on.

Come the fall, he starts talking to me again, and tries to hook up. I should have known that wasn't going to end well, but who was I to resist? In the end, opening my legs that time opened up a Pandora's Box of emotions that only Elliott Smith, candles, and alcohol could close. All of winter we were pseudo-dating, and come January, I am bawling on his kitchen floor at 1AM the night before my flight back to school, and we were officially back together.

I tried hard this past week to change, and I did a decent job. He couldn't trust it as a permanent transformation, and as a result didn't treat me as if he believed in me. It's the little things that matter.

It's not the fact that he puts his hand on my back when we're out. It's the fact that we sit without touching on the couch, and he doesn't move to touch me.

It's not the fact that he hugs me when we're out and together. It's the fact that when I go see him he doesn't seem happy to see me, doesn't give me a hug, and goes back to his own life.

It's not the fact that he cares about me. It's the fact that he doesn't seem to care about this relationship.

It's not the fact that he loves me. It's the fact that he isn't in love with me anymore.

After two years of being together and having the problems that we did have, it's no surprise that after a month, 2 months of attempting to change my behavior would validate some sort of change in his expectations of me. And yet I can't help but wonder why it is always me that is having the problems that are causing our relationship to fall apart.

When he says something wrong, he doesn't apologize, and yet makes me apologize for getting angry for taking it "the wrong way." He doesn't try to change anymore, and I wonder why I try. Sometimes I feel as if he's just in it because the last time we had this conversation I sat on his kitchen floor bawling uncontrollably, and he just felt bad for me so he agreed to my demands. I feel as if he just holds on to our past, knowing we had some sort of connection, something he could hold on to until he finds the next person.

I don't want to cry over him anymore, but I also didn't need to open up that Pandora's Box of emotions leading to possibly tomorrow night's lineup of Elliott Smith, candles, alcohol, and tears.

Girrrrrl

I don't watch American Idol, but I just happened to check it out this Tuesday night and well, saw what exactly Sanjaya M..asomethingorother was made of. Basically, he sang terribly, and made a very young girl cry, a lot. Here's a spoof that SNL did of him...

Estrogen-tabulous

Today's FX schedule includes...

1. Mona Lisa Smile - I LOVE Julia Roberts, Julia Stiles, and Maggie Gyllenhal

2. Maid in Manhattan - Okay, I can't lie, JLo has a booty I can't deny...and I LOVE her sappy love movies. I absolutely adored the Wedding Planner, back in the era where Matthew McConehaaaay didn't smoke as much pot and bathed regularly.

3. Never Been Kissed - Drew Barrymore is amazing, and who can deny the hotness that is Michael Vartan? Also, Garry Marshall is hilarious as the senile old boss.

4. The Stepford Wives - Nicole Kidman is GORGEOUS in this movie.

...GLEE!

Ethics

Since I have the experience of dealing with academic(s) in certain area(s), I wanted to examine the ethical behavior codes of my current school and my school that I will be attending.

Current School Code states that you must - " refrain from engaging in a romantic or sexual relationship with a student whom you teach, advise, coach, or supervise in any way;"

Grad School Code states that - "Faculty and staff are cautioned that consensual romantic relationships with student members of the University community, while not expressly prohibited, can prove problematic....A faculty or staff member involved in a consensual relationship with a student is expected to remove him/herself from academic or professional decisions concerning the student."

I like school #2 better, mostly because it a)recognizes that these relationships do occur unlike school #1 who envisions some sort of absurd, uncrossable bridge between that of the academic and of the student, and b) is definitely less vague about the expectations from the institution as to what should happen when these relationships do actually occur.

Neither state what would happen to the student or the faculty member if 1)a relationship occurs at school# and 2)the faculty does not remove him/herself from academic/prof decisions concerning the student. I feel like for at least tenured professors, nothing would happen, and the student would just be forced to be dropped from the class or his/her advisement.

lame lame lame.

1. the hot man was NOT at the gym today. One good thing to come out of this - maybe I'm not as creepy as I thought, since I don't really know what his gym schedule is.

2. the Boy is pissing me off, and tonight was a total waste of my time and waste of me showering, putting on make up, dressing, and just putting effort into looking cute in general.

3. it's Friday, 1am and I'm home, sober, watching Conan O'Brien...this is a first.

Hot Man of The Day

pic courtesy of L'Officiel Hommes Spring/Summer 07 magazine

Wentworth Miller plays someone on Prison Break. I like to watch it on mute while I write papers or go online shopping. He is one sexy bastard. I think it's an issue that everyone I post who's hot is on one TV show or another. I need to stop watching so much TV, but I'd rather waste my life this way during Spring Break than party all night long, since that's what I do at school anyway.

Anyway, adding on to my fancying of halfies - Wentworth is half white and half black, which you know, supposedly puts him in some sort of "I had to deal with trauma, being a Lone Ranger on the playground, not knowing where I fit in" brooding man type. Please, he was probably that superhot, smart loner kid who every girl had a crush on but was too intimated to talk to. Making him even hotter is the fact that he went to and graduated from Princeton with a degree in English...oh and he can also sing - he was in the a capella group the Princeton Tigertones.

That must be the stupidest a capella group name I have ever heard.

horror-scope, part infinity

tomorrow = The astral configuration today encourages you to go to extremes. Even though others may find you a bit extreme already, you may not be able to help yourself. The meeting that occurs today could develop fast and furiously into something that rapidly threatens to consume you. But this will be the least of your worries. It could be a true blending of heart and soul, and ever so special!

today was "Don't just sit there -- making the first move is favored now. Take the initiative and strike up a conversation. If you want to minimize risk or awkwardness, just think of it as meeting a potential new friend."

Nothing has happened, because I am not fierce. This lady was talking to the hot man today...so I finally got to hear his voice...which is pretty much how I expected him to speak - nice, calm, and southern. I gawked some more today, as usual. I may or may not be really obvious about it especially when he walks in front of me and I stare straight at him.

Tomorrow is pretty much my last day until late May to actually DO something about it. I need someone to work out with so he/she can shove me into the hot man's big muscular lean arms because this may not happen unless I have either that or some liquid courage, the second of which cannot happen because I have to drive to and from the gym.

To list off exactly how creepy I am - I know his gym schedule and what his car looks like, and this is for someone who has yet to speak to him. Oh yeah, I also lurk him when we ARE at the gym and stare as if I were a 45 year old pervy man preying on a nubile 15 year old cheerleader.

Hot Mess of the Day

Most of you will probably not know who this is - she, Beth Ditto, is the lead singer for an American punk/rock band called The Gossip. I quite enjoy The Gossip's music, and she has a nice voice - but girlfriend does NOT need to be parading around at SXSW wearing nothing but her undies, buckets of sweat, and a helluvalot of eyeliner/shadow.

Other than her concert outfit choices, she's pretty cool, cool enough for NME to name her as the coolest person in rock in 2006. One thing I don't understand though, is the fact that she's an outspoken lesbian...and yet she is in a relationship with a transgendered woman who identifies as a man...so wouldn't that make their relationship a straight relationship??

HMOTD

Since we're hot off the heels of my latest oldmancrush, the HManOTD is Hugh Laurie (aka Gregory House, MD). He is hot as hell - and as my Sunday afternoon movie-watching habits have paid off, he was one of the dog snatchers in the 101 Dalmatians live-action movie (with Glenn Close and the girl who plays Julia on Nip/Tuck).

He plays House sooo well, but I've been reading all these reports about how he HATES living in LA, apart from his family (who are still in Britain). There are all these pictures of him looking really glum wandering around LA alone. I just want to hug him and tell his damn wife to stop being a stubborn English bitch and move her dumbass and their 2 children over to LA.

New episode on Friday at 8PM because stupid American Idol had its 2hr sing-a-thon this Tuesday. Speaking of American Idol - I pretty much hate everyone on the show this season, and Sanjaya should not have made it to the top12. Now I'm wasting energy typing about this shithole of a show. Damn.

Misadventures at the gym

I went to work out today looking good so I can work up the nerves to talk to the hot man. Luckily, we were working on the same part of the body (lower body) so I got to stare and gawk a bit more than usual.

As I was on the machine to work out your hamstrings, he walks up and starts to use the hamstring machine next to mine. I don't think my heart was beating, but my ladies looked good in the top I had on so it didn't really matter. Between my sets I would just stand there and stare at his ass and legs flexing as he was working out. I am a giant creeper. I am not even hiding my affections for him anymore. I couldn't even look at him when we were both resting between sets at the same time. I wanted to tell him he was hot but I just wanted to hurl and nothing came out of my throat except for air.

Next I see him he's talking to some man who was asking him questions about the gym or some crap, and all I could do was wish I was that man and how much I wanted to grab the hot man's ass. So I decided I would use the machines closer to the entrance of the gym so I could see the hot man when he left and talk to him (it was like an hour, 75min into my workout anyway) I don't see him for a while, then out of nowhere he's walking behind me, next to me, then towards the guy's locker room.

Now I don't even know what was going through my mind at this point except, how do I find the opportunity to talk to him? So I'm standing there drinking my water, being a complete fool when I decide to dump my water out and then stand at the water fountains near the locker rooms so I can stare at him as he leaves or talk to him or SOMETHING. The hot man walks out and I'm screaming "drink some water!!!!" in my mind, and luckily he does...

So I fill up my water bottle, and he's still drinking water...and what do I do? I stare at his head and try to say "you're hot" but once again, nothing comes out except air. At this point I'm just staring at him for a full 2 seconds and so I start drinking my water from my water bottle...standing in front of the water fountain...as he walks away.

I have no idea what the hell is wrong with me - I am acting like a 12 yr old girl in front of her boyband crush...minus the screaming and the tears, just a lot of nerves. I've done the random pick-up before...at the gym, at random restaurants...all older men....what the fuck! I need to get my act together for tomorrow. I only have 2 days left.

Horror-scope

You're likely to be extra chatty right about now, and no one's gonna be yawning, because the stars are also sending extra charisma your way. Start with a compliment, ask an interested question and voila! They're yours.

o hay bebe, y u so fyne??

OH SNAPZ.

Hot Mess of The Day

(Photo from TMZ.com)
Gene Simmons post-facelift surgery...I am quite speechless. He was a pretty hideous man to begin with, I'm not really sure how this is making it any better. I thought it was a woman when I first saw the picture. He kind of reminds me of a really roughed up Chyna (wrestler woman whose clitoris' size rivals the penis size of many men...I know yall have all seen those clips or even the entire video of her One Night In Chyna video and then went and threw up everything you ate from the past 24hours).

High of 75

I am really enjoying open-back shirts right now.

Mostly because it is

1) too cold/slutty for March to be wearing tiny tanks in daylight
2) too warm when you get into your car that's been sitting in the mall parking lot for 3 hours to be wearing something that doesn't have a lot of breathing room.
(pic source: splashnewsonline.com) Whole lotta 'Tifah.
3) something cute (provided that you do NOT have backfat/back rolls/love handles) for you to wear without seeming like a floozy and yet still get looks from men, because let's face it - a nice sexy back is a turn on!...okay let's bring sexyback?..okay bad pun. Say for example...when the hot and yet geeky menz at the Apple store look at you when you bring your Ipod in because it freezes all the time due to a ... love touch (read: dent on the actual Ipod).

Anyway, Isabelly (my Ipod's name...my next one will be called Isatubby - get it? Because the amount that is holds will get bigger and bigger as I upgrade/drop my baby on its head, its name will connotate its memory/lard-carrying abilities) has been freezing and not doing anything for the past couple of weeks so I finally took it to the Apple Genius Bar (for those of you who are experiencing any difficulties with your Apple products, check out www.apple.com/retail/ for the store closest to you with the Genius Bar and make an appointment online to have the Geniuses look at your Apple product - it's all free!) to get it checked out.

Turns out, its hard drive is failing because it's been dropped/bumped so many times...I didn't exactly tell him about the time I woke up from a party, cleaned up, got my shit together, and then realized I couldn't actually use the touch pad or the pause button because it was drenched in beer/wine/other ethanol products. My choices were to either get the hard drive replaced, or ride it out and upgrade to a new one. I think I'm going to tough it out for the next 2 months, hold Isabelly on life support (she did not come with a DNR form) until she dies, and then put her on Ebay and use that money to go towards my new 80gig Ipod. It's too bad the Apple discontinued their educational discount. Boo to Steve Jobs.

HMOTD

If I ever adopt I am totally using this line when I tell he/she about the adoption - "You didn't grow inside my stomach, but you grew inside my heart." (line courtesy of Heroes)

the Boy couldn't deliver today, he was too sick to function and didn't want to half-ass it. That was disappointing. I always get in the mood when I see the hot man at the gym (he's like porn for me), and today was no different.

Anyway, since I'm still watching/catching up with the season of Heroes, the hot man of the day will be the last one from Heroes - Adrian Pasdar, or aka Nathan Petrelli from Heroes.
(pic courtesy of tv.com) y u so fyne bb?

Apparently, he's half Iranian, I only know how to say one word in Farsi, and that word is ass, and I would like some from him. Anyway, the halfies always look good, I guess that says something about white people - need a little color to enhance the flavor eh? haha. According to Wikipedia, he won a scholarship to UF (Florida) to play football in college....no wonder he looks so good. I'm not a Gators fan but I'll be one for him.

ramblings

I got the Boy sick, I don't understand it - every sickness I ever have, he always seems to have a much rougher time with it than I do. When I had my weird stomach flu, he was out of it for about 2 weeks, throwing up and unable to accomplish much if anything at his work. This time, he had to stay home today (which is yay for me because he typically doesn't get home till 8 on Mondays anyway) because every muscle in his body was aching and he refuses to take medicine! He refuses to take the correct dosage (1tylenol instead of 2 for pain) and refuses to take cold/flu medicine. And he just gained 8 pounds of muscle....now he's not eating anymore or going to the gym. sadface.

In other news, I found the perfect formal dress - short enough to showcase my gams and the halter is nice and low enough to showcase the ladies. It's not gaudy/sequined but it is seafoam green!

The hot man was at the gym today...he is tall and lean...about 3% bodyfat and all lean buldging muscles...nice and big arms, muscular quads...hmm I really need to know what he looks like without a shirt on, because I have a feeling I will really enjoy that show as well...okay enough fantasizing - I really need a picture of him...I have to start going about an hour later so I have more staring time...at some point this week I need to start up a conversation...

HMOTD

it IS technically Monday. The hot man of the day today is also from Heroes...don't worry there's more (hello Nathan Petrelli...who in real life is unfortunately married to Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks...yes, the short ugly one). Anyway, this one plays the villain in Heroes, Gabriel/Sylar, and his real name is Zachary Quinto and is hot as balls.

dasgjdkdl

Hot man was at the gym today when I was. mMmm...he is one fine silver fox. I need to talk to him, or something, and stop the creepy actions...except I have no plan and no idea what to say and my heart just may jump out of my throat from beating too hard. I should also take a picture of him so all my friends can gawk and agree with my assessment and stalking.

More magazine scans.

All courtesy of Vanity Fair (I should get a subscription to that magazine....)

Mandy Moore is hot, and she looks really good in the April issue of Vanity Fair. I loved her in Saved, it's such a shame Jena Malone has taken a Cory Kennedy turn for the worse...I can't find those pictures but just imagine cute little Jena with long stringy hair, eyeliner penciled mustache and drawn on tears from her right eye....

In other news - my hot man of the day is Anderson Cooper....(click on it for the larger image, AC is totally worth it)

Too bad he's rumored to be gay, but I can still ogle him from afar. When I was a senior in HS and went to NYC for the National Model UN Conference (yes, I am a dork, but I was a hot ghetto mess even back then...apparently the teacher thought I was having sex with my parner...which was not true) we were walking around where we were staying (Hilton on 34th, I believe) and actually ended up on the AC360 show as one of those crazy people waving in the back through the glass and staring through the glass like stalkers...and thus begins my obsession with the silver minx.

Anyway, he's hot, I hope I run into him next year, or yall can just look out for me as the weirdo outside his window during AC360 (CNN 10PM EST)

Currently.....

....completed addicted to Heroes (why is Milo Ventimiglia so hot????? PS click on image to enlarge, pic courtesy of Flaunt Magazine)

....trying to find a formal dress (I'm going for the....this is my last one so I'll do/wear whatever the hell I want and look completely gaudy and obnoxious - this is apparently a hard task to accomplish).

....stalking a hot (whom i think is an) ex-marine (aka staring at him while working out at Gold's Gym).

I've been watching ANTM a lot (Thank you VH1) and here are some lessons I've learned.

1 - the bitchier/more interesting you are, the longer you will last because it IS a TV show and they want you there for the viewers (c'mon, how else are you going to explain how JADE got into the final 3 in season 6? I foresee Renee of Cycle8 lasting a long time because she is SUCH a conniving slutbag!)

2 - smile wit yo eyes! otherwise known as Tyra Banks Is Crazy. She overacts to every situation that she's supposed to play in and wears RI-freakin-DONK-ULOUS outfits to every judging. Headscarfs and other head/hair accessorites that make her 5head look like an 8head just really aren't flattering. Everything that the girls do deals with Tyra - I mean is this ANTM or is it Tyra-Banks-Is-Awesome??? The woman tries to be the next Oprah but instead looks and sounds like a MADtv sketch of Oprah played by an epileptic.

3 - This is more of a concern - What exactly is Miss Jay??? Is he/she transgendered? What is his/her real job? What can't he/she just take some hormones and grow boobs and actually be a woman? It just really bothers me that he/she is so feminine and goes by MISS Jay, and yet isn't really transgendered.

4 - Jay Manuel really disturbs me, especially the silver-tipped hair. Who dyes/highlights their hair silver!! SERIOUSLY.

5 - Nigel Barker is HOT.

10 Days of This...

I will be trading 10 days of that....
and this.... (this is actually a picture of a LAKE...)for this!!! mid70s, bright, sunny and green!

So scratch what I wrote yesterday about it being warm...it started snowing again this morning. So much for the low-60s we have been having.

Ancient Eight

I really like how it's getting warmer, and yet I really hate the fact that it's spring and thus it's going to rain continuously until late-April. By then, it won't matter anyway, because I will be crouched in the library doing work so I actually graduate and go to law school and not fail out my last semester in this dump of a place...speaking of which, midterm at 5pm, and I am blogging, word.

Some professors here are really heinous - my friend has a professor, one who went here as an undergrad, who decided to give an exam on the last day of classes, which also happens to coincide with our annual school-sponsored (drunken) festivities. Although the prof ended up changing the date of the exam, that is still a completely heinous thing to do - maybe she was one of the really sheltered people who didn't even enjoy that day and now wants to drag the rest of the student population down now that she has the ability to. Too bad though, because at least at this school, the students' evaluations of the professor and the course really matters when it comes to reviewing a professor for tenure.

One of my family's friends has a daughter who wants to apply to my school Early Decision this coming fall (her senior year in high school) and wants advice/info on being an undergrad here. I don't really know what I will tell her - maybe that I've found some friends here that I will probably be friends with for the rest of my life, maybe that it's driven me to be a really poor alcoholic, or that the classes aren't as bad as they seem at the beginning. I don't know what I've taken from this place, tangibly, other than alcoholism, debt, and a group of close friends.

Did I become a better writer? Questionable. Did I become a better writer for long papers due the next morning? Definitely.

Did I learn more about the world? Questionable. Did I learn more about the world at the time of examination? Definitely.

I had quite a workout with my liver though - it is true, I am a true Ivy League student. I spend just about my entire existence on this campus 1)in class/library, 2)at a bar/party/drunk, or 3)on the internet/AIM/facebook.

Based on that, maybe my advice to her will be - work hard, drink harder, and procrastinate often.

totally OT: one of my residents borrowed my lighter and never gave it back. damnit. It's not even my lighter, although one of my friends thought it was and gave it (back) to me. I am not one to not accept free lighters (I had lost one prior to the giving-back-of-lighter due to alcoholic follies that resulted in it actually being flushed down the toilet...true story) mostly because I can't bring lighters on the plane with me (what do they think I'm going to do with it? Call upon Allah and burn the pilot to death with my 2cm flame?) so I like to have a stockpile of them on campus and at home.

Ugly Clothes Episode 1

As a part of the fashion post from earlier today - I bring you - atrocities.

Nothing says xXxHardxCorexXx like full sleeve tattoos on your arms...unless of course, you have fake tshirts of full-sleeve tattoos...I'm sorry but what man would actually eschew his manliness and actually feign hardcore-o-rama with a $90 tshirt from www.sleevesclothing.com??

Don't worry, for the inner ~*~~*~hardxcore~*~~*~ man in your woman, you can purchase this monstrosity for a mere $90 dollars from the same store.

Obsessed

I really want this dress. I know it's completely gaudy and ridiculous, but I think I will buy it with my next $40 paycheck for 2 weeks of "work" as a Resident Advisor... ($36 from Wet Seal)
Going along with this - I am addicted to www.alexandchloe.com and their accessories. They are pretty pricey, but absolutely amazing.

"Kate (the only Moss in our woods)" $54 Gold or Silver

"Coco is dead" $54

I think it's called "daddy complex"

Last night, my friend and I had a conversation about the lack of actual men on this campus, leading to our succumbing to the advances of awkward fratty boys. Now I have nothing against fratty boys, other than the fact that they are fratty, and are in fact boys and not men. However, I would like something that is not alcohol-induced, and does not lead to regrets the next hour as I am vomitting into a trash can and he is incessantly text-messaging my phone (sadly, a true story).

Nonetheless, my friend and I both agreed that we would rather bang a 37 year old sexy academic any day over an 18 year old nubile fratty pledge boy. One professor, in particular, has caught our ever-lurking eye. He is a fine piece of symmetry and is the epitome of being classically handsome. (He is a blogging prof, and hopefully will stumble upon this one day, be flattered, and fall in love with me).

Now last (academic) year (note: to the certain someone/s reading, when I was NOT dating a certain other someone), perhaps a year of terrible and terrific life decisions, I had some experience with the over 35 crowd, and I must say - the men are not any less awkward than the fratty boys, although I suppose there is a reason they are still single/never-been-married and over 35. They had unique life stories, made for fun conversation, but were actually quite dull in bed. I suppose had I pursued one in particular for any further than a one-night-stand, he could have made for a quite aggressive and pleasing lover, but alas, it was not the case.

The other interesting one was an unrequited love, because the object of my lurking creepiness for an entire semester, was actually my professor. I don't know what it is - he is doughy-looking, kind of short - but I was obsessed. He was the dorky kind, not like the other, who was willing to transgress the University Ethic Code. Nonetheless, he got me to actually go to every single class and my GPA was the highest of any semester here.

My friends all thought I was kidding, and were shocked to find out that I was actually serious about this one. I had never fallen for anyone so hard (especially someone that I barely knew). I actually attended office hours (more than once!)...and at one point his face was so close to mine I wanted to grab it and kiss him passionately. It was a high school crush, a silly girl doting her affections on someone completely unattainable. But like all high school crushes, it consumed me. I actually look forward to going to class.

It was getting out of hand, and at the end of the semester, I had made a bet with a friend who also had an unrequited love and who was lurking him just as much as I was lurking the prof that we had to actually confess our love (the loser who didn't tell had to buy the other a handle of Tanq, clearly there was much at stake).

My heart was pounding, I really did NOT want to go through with this, and I pretty much freaked out in the building's stairwell, calling another friend asking for support. My courageous, bold, and yet quite dumb, ass knocked on his door at a time that wasn't even office hours, and proceeded to spill out everything, which was prefaced by the phrase "I think you are adorable" which may or may not be the most appropriate thing to say to a 36 year old academic who is actually in charge of my academic outcome in a class...

...he blushed, he stammered, and it was...adorable. You'd think it ended there -but no. My courageous, bold, and yet exceedingly dumb, ass emailed him my phone number and told him that I'd be here for the summer once the classes were over. Unfortunately, that was completely rejected with an email touting the University Ethics Code. For shame. Even more saddening is the fact that I have not seen this adorable awkward man since then, and since this is my last semester here, the chances are slim to none that I will see him again.

Next semester: ubiquitous ivy-league law school, and thus perhaps more travels down the lane of the awkward 30somethings.

I think it's called senioritis

I long for the days when I actually cared about what I was doing in this place, aiming for some higher, seemingly unreachable goal.

Now that I've actually reached it...I still have 3 months left to waste (Read: drown in alcohol-induced debt) while possibly failing intro level classes (I missed the add deadline to switch to pass/fail)

My midterm tomorrow morning is on Race and Ethnicity...and I must say- taking that class has completely desensitized me to any and all racial issues in American society. I am really tired of reading about white privilege, the Asian American "model minority," gentrification of ghettos, blacks and affirmative action/discrimination, Hispanic/Latino workers, and American Indians.

I suppose doing 6 weeks of reading in 3 days could do that to a person...I just read my syllabus, and apparently going to class and actively participating in discussion is 15% of the grade...I wonder if the Professor even knows what my name is, other than "girl-center-front-row-who-shows-up-once-in-a-while."

Regardless, at least I'm taking that class pass/fail!

ANECDOTE: since we're on the subject of my lack of enthusiasm for anything academic this semester - 2 weeks ago arrived to one of my classes dumbfounded by the fact that we actually had a paper due, so I ended up writing it DURING class on my friend's laptop and emailing it to the TA proclaiming sickness - there are actually several more even stranger twists and turns to this bizarre story, but I don't want the TA to somehow stumble upon this and realize who I am...so I will leave it at that.
